In a Town is a book of extraordinary reminiscence about growing up in an uncared-for industrial town somewhere in England. It is part imaginary, part memoir. The poetry in the first two sections is as gritty as the town itself, the third section A Boy’s Guide to Fatherhood ends the book on a personal and tender note.
